Update: 03/12/13

Today was our first attempt at scheduling and budgeting on Movie Magic. Unfortunately it did not too down well, as we could not locate the correct schedule templates anywhere and so may have to use the budgets and schedules that we have made so far, to hand in.

Feedback

Our friend, a fellow scriptwriter, Dom, reviewed the script today. He said that he liked it and that it flows well but made some narrative suggestions. He thought that the male character could lose his phone (instead of the battery dying, as he felt it seemed too implausible that both the man and woman's phone die) only to find it later on in the film, but, rather than phoning for help, chooses to stay and talk with the woman.

Dom felt that this would be visually significant; showing that the man does actually like the woman, thus adding to the element of romance. Although Abi and I like this idea, we thought it may not be consistent with the man’s personality. i.e. If he’d lost his phone he would have spent the majority of the time in the showroom trying to find it, as he didn’t want to be there to begin with. However, there are ways of working around this, and in the future we may look into including this idea, but as for now we feel that the script is fine as it is. Dom also suggested a plot twist; one which Abi, Dan and I had already discussed the day before- but he said instead of the Woman coming across as slightly crazy and sinister for hiding the fact that she had the showroom keys, she could instead be portrayed sympathetically.

Dom also said that our male actor should wear only boxer shorts at the beginning of the film, to add to the humorous element of the film, as well as to highlight the male character’s arrogant personality. He said we should encourage the male actor to do so.

As the Director, this would be my responsibility, however our lead male actor did not seem wholly comfortable with this idea when we proposed it to him on the day of the auditions, and as much as it would facilitate the story line, it is not worth losing a good actor over; especially for the trailer as we really need him.

Instead we have suggested that he have his shirt loosely open and that he starts off in bed with only boxers, but puts his trousers on as soon as he gets out of bed.
